Here Come The Mummies June 30 2011

Round 3! This one was a little different. Instead of traveling to see the Mummies, they came to us... sort of. Every year for as long as I can remember, our town holds the Haynes Apperson Festival around the fourth of July weekend. Celebrating the history of the two automobile companies that helped this town grow. It's your typical festival with a car show, amusement rides, elephant ears, fireworks, and a parade. I'm sure they had live music acts before this, but it was always local bands. This was one of the first times I remember them getting anyone that had any recognition. I could be wrong, but it's the first time I remember. And The Mummies had been riding high for a while with a lot of air play on the Indianapolis radio station Q95. Specifically on the Bob & Tom Show that have a syndicated nation wide show.
And now here they are, playing my little town summer festival on a stage set up right on Main Street across from the courthouse. I will say, the festival organizers have been working hard the past years trying to bring top notch entertainment to town. Not A list entertainers but the best you can get to play free shows. A wide variety of performers. And I'm not mad at them for it.
Now Here Come The Mummies are excellent musicians and put on a high paced funk filled hell of a show. But I would not say there show is for an all ages crowd. A lot of sexual innuendos in their lyrics and choreography. Awesome for adults, but maybe not for the little ones. But here they are out in the hot sun in front of everyone. Oh well let the other parents worry about explaining the song "Attack Of The Weiner Man" or "Pants". My kid wasn't there.
All the usual suspects were there. Craig, Vince, and Chad. The only difference was none of us were drinking, and everyone brought there wives. Chad bringing his kids also. Even though I was sober, I still had a fun time. This really is a great live band full of great musicians. I highly recommend seeing them if you haven't. There was a little problem with the power going out during songs, but they eventually got it fixed. I'm pretty sure we saw the same setlist from the show earlier this year. I don't have that setlist but oh well. Here's some pics and videos.

Here's some youtube links but I warn you. turn down your volume! My camera records everything extra loud!

Here's one when the power goes out
