Metallica November 12 2023

Day 2 of the No Repeat Weekend! Originally, this was supposed to be me, my Son in Law, and with me as always my friend Tim who has been with me at most of the concerts that I've been to. Well, that's not quite how it turned out. With the show being on Sunday, and me not wanting to drive the four hours home that night, staying till Monday morning, my Son in Law could not get Monday off. So I decided to ask Mike (a friend from work) to go with us. Then Tim had to bail out due to some medical issues. So now it was just Mike and I. I could of found someone to give the extra ticket to, but I wanted to make a lot of extra stops on the way there and on the way home to some historical spots to take some photos for a different project I have in the works. And Mike is flexible with his schedule and knows what I'm doing with the other project. He's been with me on some of my historical adventures before. So there you go. On to Detroit! After checking into the hotel we got some Coney Dogs at Lafayette Coney Island. I guess Coney's are a Detroit staple so, when in Rome! They were very good. And I swear John Belushi took our orders! Instead of cheeseburgers it was coney dogs! We got to the Venue and Mike thought he would be able to get his camera in since it did not have a detachable lens. I didn't think he could. It's not a small camera, but not a very large one either. So I was prepared to have to sit there and wait for him to take his camera back to the hotel. It was only a 15 minuet walk to the hotel, but I was not looking forward to the wait. Well low and behold they let him bring it in! We got there a little earlier than Friday so had some time before the start of the show. We just sat there and people watched. Saw one guy wearing a T shirt from a strip club from our home town which was cool.

Opening act, Ice Nine Kills. I have no idea who they are! They seem to be more on the theatrical side. I think that would be a better experience in a smaller venue. It was kind of hard to see what they were doing. Never the less, they didn't sound to bad. I plan on buying their CD soon to give them a closer listen. Here's the set list.

 Rainy Day
 Hip To Be Scared
 Meet & Greet
 Ex-Mortis
 Welcome To Horrorwood
 Wurst Vacation
 The Shower Scene
 Stabbing In The Dark

Up Next, Five Finger Death Punch. The people sitting behind us name dropped one of the members of the band as the source of their tickets. I'm going to be straight up. This band has never clicked with me. I used this time to go to the restroom and to buy my daughter and Son In Law some Metallica T shirts. I could still hear the band, and that was ok for me. I did hear when they played Bad Company. There are TVs in the concourse around the stadium. The Detroit Lions were playing The Los Angeles Chargers in LA. It was a great game. And the concourse erupted louder than the band when Riley Patterson hit the game winning 41 yard field goal. Lions 41 Chargers 38. I got back to my seat and finished watching the last couple of songs. and got a few pics. Here's the set list

Lift Me Up
Trouble
Wash It All Away
Jekyll And Hyde
Bad Company
IOU
Wrong Side Of Heaven
Burn MF
Welcome To The Circus
Under And Over It
The Bleeding

And here's a link to the Lions game highlights!
